Learn how to clean Play-Doh carpet stains for under $10 dollars!
It’s about to get appalling for this one. Forget about soap and water. Forget about cutting the Play-Doh out. Forget about calling a pro. Try taking a NEW smarter approach and the rest is history. Go to an auto parts store. Ask for a can of cold air. One of the major brands is called “Super Cold”. The guys who work at the store will know exactly what you’re talking about.
A can of cold air from your local auto parts store will run you around $10 dollars. Some people might think that is expensive for just a can of air. But some people don’t have technicolor Play-Doh chunks ground into their carpet either. Feel free to call a pro if you want, but they could charge up to $200 depending on the carpet cleaning company you call.
Spending a quick $10 dollars is going to give you the best bang for your buck!
Cold Air Really Works
Now go home and blast the crap out of that Play-Doh with your cold air. Don’t be shy. Hose that baby down. Keeping your fingers away is very important at this point. You can give yourself freeze burns. At first, it’ll look like your carpet is just getting kind of wet. But keep spraying, right on the Play-Doh. Give it at least 10 or 15 seconds.
The Freezing Effect
When you stop spraying, then you’ll really see the freezing effect. The carpet and Play-Doh will look frosted over. Use a screwdriver or butter knife or something to chip away at the Play-Doh. Don’t get so aggressive that you damage the carpet. But put a little elbow grease into it. The frozen Play-Doh will crumble away like a Liquid T-1000 walking through liquid nitrogen.
Chip The Play-Doh Away
Try not to touch the affected area. It will be really, really, super cold. But you should be able to simply and easily chip the Play-Doh away. Repeat if necessary. If this doesn’t seem to do the trick, then I recommend you call Good Clean Carpets. Our professional steam clean with Roto-Vac extraction will be able to remove the Play-Doh. Usually, a plastic sheet will work best to cover the area your children play in.
Kids Play Date
Protecting the longevity of a fresh, clean carpet is critical and should be taken seriously. Next time you are ready to have a kids play date, try going in the garden where you don’t have to deal with a possible extensive cleanup.
